உலகத்தமிழ் மாநாடு கோவையில் இந்த வருடம் ஜூன் 23 முதல் 27 வரை நடக்க இருக்கிறது . தினத்தந்தி ஸ்டைல்ல சொன்னா, இது தெரிந்ததே !!

அம்மாநாட்டில் கள் விற்கப்படும் என்பது வேணுமின்னா புது செய்தியாய் இருக்கலாம் !!

Toddy will be sold at Tamil meet venue

ERODE: The Tamil Nadu Toddy Movement will sell toddy at the venue of World Classical Tamil Conference that is scheduled to be held in Coimbatore from June 23 to 27, said the movement’s president C Nallasamy.

Addressing media at Kodumudi, he pointed out that toddy was being consumed by Tamils right from ancient times. “Toddy will also be sold in other parts of the town during the meet. As per the recent Supreme Court ruling, toddy is a food item. This means it can be sold in any part of the country. In fact, the Centre has also the same view. President Pratibha Patil has promised to protect the interests of tree climbers. So the Centre must intervene if the State government cracks down on toddy selling during the World Tamil meet,” he stressed.

“The ban on sale of toddy is also against Article 47 of the Constitution. The Centre should not therefore let the state government violate the Constitution,” he added.
